Unless you are extremely familiar with your data, it is a good idea to explore the data before you try to analyze it. SAS/LAB software offers various types of plots and descriptive statistics for this purpose.
For univariate plots of a single variable, select that variable from the variable list at the bottom of SAS/LAB's main window. For pairwise scatter plots, press the button and select the variables to be plotted. From any summary plot, additional plots and appropriate statistics are available. For example, from a scatter plot or scatter plot matrix, correlations and crosstabulations are available, as are univariate plots of the individual variables. From any univariate plots, appropriate descriptive statistics are available.
