Syntax

WINSERT <ON | OFF>

no argument: toggles the insert mode on and off.
ON: enables the insert mode.
OFF: enables the overstrike mode.

You can also toggle this setting by pressing the INSERT key on your keyboard or by modifying the Overtype mode option in the Preferences dialog box Edit tabbed page.
