Accessible Reporting Using SAS^® Visual Analytics

Creating Reports That Conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Using the June 2021 update to the SAS Visual Analytics 8.5 release, you can author reports that conform with WCAG 2.0 AA when they are viewed using view mode provided that you follow the best practices defined in Creating Accessible Reports Using SAS Visual Analytics.

Viewing Reports Using SAS Visual Analytics View Mode

The default method of viewing SAS Visual Analytics reports is to use the SAS Visual Analytics web application within a web browser. This is called SAS Visual Analytics "view mode". When viewing reports in view mode, users do not have access to all the capabilities of SAS Visual Analytics.

The report viewing experience provided by SAS Visual Analytics view mode supports a rich set of accessibility features which include:

• A High Contrast theme override which empowers report consumers to override the color theme selected by report authors.
• Support for fill patterns, line patterns, and markers within data visualizations.
• Support for browser zoom up to 200%.
• A customizable focus indicator.
• Full keyboard accessibility.
• A built-in Landmarks feature that enables keyboard users to quickly move focus throughout a report.
• Compatibility with screen readers which provides a text representation of the label and value of data elements within data visualizations, tables, and cross-tabs.
• Integration with SAS Graphics Accelerator which enables automatically generated text descriptions and interactive sonification for data visualizations.
