Usage Note 9641: Lotus Notes email fails to automatically send
When you use File>Send or try send email in a DATA step, it might fail.
This failure generally occurs on new Lotus R5 installs. It can occur
even when the EMAILSYS, EMAILID, and EMAILPW parameters are correctly
specified.
The problem occurs because the WIN.INI is not updated correctly by the
Lotus Notes R5 install and the following lines are not added to the
WIN.INI file when R5 is installed:
[Mail]
SMI=1
[LotusMail]
Application=Notes
Program=e:\notes\Notes.exe NoDialogs
Add these lines manually to resolve the problem.
Note: the problem does not occur on upgraded Notes clients because the
lines are already present in the WIN.INI.
For more information see the Lotus Notes knowledgebase.
