Usage Note 9627: How to eliminate the "File Download" popup when creating ODS PRINTER/RTF
output
When routing output to the RTF or PRINTER family destinations
(PCL,PDF,PS) in an interactive SAS session, the following popup box may
appear after the ODS <destination> CLOSE; statement.
"Would you like to open this file or save it to your computer?"
This dialog box can be avoided by changing your settings using the
instructions below.
From within SAS, choose:
TOOLS..OPTIONS..PREFERENCES..RESULTS.. and
UN-select the box: "View results as they are generated"
To do this programmatically with PROC REGISTRY, see SAS Note 013128.
The link to that note is provided below.
#013128
On the Windows platforms, you can do the following:
From the MY COMPUTER icon, choose:
VIEW..OPTIONS..FILETYPES
create an association (using the buttons "New Type" or "Edit")
between .RTF files and MS Word (or MS Word Viewer);
.PDF files and Acrobat Reader;
.PS files and Ghostview
The respective applications (Microsoft's Word, Adobe's Acrobat Reader,
etc.) must be installed on the machine for these file type associations
to be valid.
