Usage Note 7655: "Error extracting support files" or "Error loading Type library/Dll"
when installing SAS or Enterprise Guide
When installing the SAS System or Enterprise Guide, various errors
related to the Installshield application used for installation might
appear. These messages can include the following:
Error extracting support files.
Access is denied.
Error loading type library/dll.
Error installing ikernel.exe.
There are a number of possible workarounds:
1. If you are using a Windows NT or a Windows 2000 machine,
you might have insufficient permissions on the machine.
Make certain that you have administrative permissions
so that you can run the setup program.
2. Make sure that the Ikernel.exe is not in memory. If it is,
and no setup is running at the time, end that task and
restart the system.
3. Clean out the temp directory.
4. Delete the Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine folder
and then rerun the setup.
5. Reinstall Internet Explorer (IE) 5.x or 6 to repair
corrupted or missing core Windows files.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
