Problem Note 5004: New multi-volume SAS library not found on volume when closed via LIBNAME
CLEAR
In Version 8 TSLEVEL M0 and above, when a multi-volume library is
allocated externally with DISP=NEW, closed with LIBNAME libref CLEAR,
and then extended, the library is corrupted. Specifically, the DS1LSTAR
on the first volume is corrupted. This shows up as an incorrect value
for the number of tracks or cylinders used when the data set information
is displayed in ISPF 3.2, or with a similar utility. Also, SAS is
unable to find the new extent when extending the library to a third
volume. The error message generated is:
ERROR: SAS data library libref.member.DATA not found on volume
nnn.
