Problem Note 14208: Oracle hints not passed to the database when included in a EXECUTE
statement in PROC SQL Pass-Through and PRESERVE_COMMENTS=YES is used
The SAS option PRESERVE_COMMENTS=YES allows you to pass Oracle hints to
the database for processing. Without this option, Oracle hints are
parsed as SAS comments and are removed from the code passed to the
database.
Currently, Oracle hints are not passed when using the PROC SQL
Pass-Through EXECUTE statement. A workaround is to use the %STR macro
function to force the parser to pass the Oracle hint. For example,
execute(update %str(/)%str(*) +INDEX(name) %str(*)%str(/) class
set age=age+1 where name='Thomas') by oracle;
There is no circumvention for this
problem at the current time.
