Usage Note 13860: AEXC is returned by MPRINT when macros are used in PROC IMPORT for Microsoft Excel
The following might occur when you use the IMPORT procedure and PROC EXPORT code that contains DBMS=Excel. The issue occurs when the code uses macro variables and the MPRINT and MLOGIC options are turned on.
options mprint mlogic;
%macro read_in(excel_data=, lib =, mem=);
PROC IMPORT OUT= &lib..&mem
DATAFILE=
"&excel_data..xls"
DBMS=EXCEL2000 REPLACE;
RANGE='Class';
GETNAMES=YES;
RUN;
%mend read_in;
%read_in(excel_data = c:\files\class913, lib = work, mem=test);
MLOGIC(READ_IN): Beginning execution.
MLOGIC(READ_IN): Parameter EXCEL_DATA has value c:\files\class913
MLOGIC(READ_IN): Parameter LIB has value work
MLOGIC(READ_IN): Parameter MEM has value test
MPRINT(READ_IN): PROC IMPORT OUT= work.test DATAFILE=
"c:\files\class913.xls" DBMS=EXCEL2000
REPLACE;
MPRINT(READ_IN): AEXC;
MPRINT(READ_IN): RANGE='Class';
MPRINT(READ_IN): GETNAMES=YES;
MPRINT(READ_IN): RUN;
There is no fix for MPRINT. The tokenizer thinks this token is coming from the macro source and calls MPRINT to print them.
This should not cause any issues with the PROC IMPORT code.
