Usage Note 9848: When running the Installation Verification Tool (IVT), installation error messages might appear
When running the Installation Verification Tool (IVT) on the Windows
operating system, the following error messages might appear:
Error: Unable to obtain the current SAS System version number from
the registry.
Error: Unable to perform the install validation.
When this happens, go to Notepad and open the SASSETUP.log file, which is located in
the !sasroot directory (usually c:\Program Files\SAS\SAS System\9.0).
The following have been seen in the log when the error messages appear:
* PROCFILES: --> Component initialization error -2147024809 while
loading cabinet file F:\SAS\core\core1.cab for component core
* PROCFILES: API Return Code Error Message: Data error (cyclic
redundancy
check).
Problems that might cause these error messages and log entries include
the following:
- scratched, smudged, or dirty installation media
- copied installation media
To correct this issue, perform the following steps:
- If the media is dirty or has smudges, clean with a soft cloth.
- If media is extremely dirty, use soap and water. Make sure that
it is thoroughly rinsed and dried before placing in the
CD-ROM drive.
- If the media is scratched, request duplicate media from SAS.
- If the is copied, request the original media from your SAS representative
or system administrator.
Once you have determined the cause, take the following steps to ensure a
clean installation of the SAS System:
- Uninstall the current version of SAS (Control Panel ► Settings ►
Add/Remove programs).
- Reboot your PC.
- Log on with administrative privileges.
- Close all applications, especially anti-virus programs.
- Re-install SAS.
