Problem Note 9672: Rolled over SAS/SHARE server SAS Logs cannot be browsed in ISPF
The LOGPARM= system option controls the opening and closing of SAS Log
files. This option also controls the naming of new log files, in
conjunction with the LOG= system option and the use of directives.
This can be beneficial for managing the information generated in the
SAS/SHARE server SAS Log. New log files can be generated based on time
intervals instead of stopping the servers/started tasks that execute
continuously on OS/390.
For example:
//STEP1 EXEC SASPROC,
// OPTIONS='LOG="USERID.T%H%M.LOG" LOGPARM="ROLLOVER=AUTO" COMAMID=XMS'
//SYSIN DD *
PROC SERVER SERVER=server-name ;
RUN;
If this job to start the server is submitted at 9:43 AM, it creates a
log file called T0943.LOG, and the log rolls over each time the log
filename changes. In this example, at 9:44 AM, the T0943.LOG file will
be closed, and the T0944.LOG file will be opened.
The generated SAS Logs cannot be browsed/editted in ISPF (=3.4), until
the server is stopped. All previous SAS Logs should be freed or
released, only the current SAS Log should be allocated to the server.
This is fixed in SAS 9.1, rolled-over and current logs can now be viewed
in ISPF.
