Problem Note 8933: Unable to save SAS Installation Data attachment if email system is Lotus
Notes or Eudora
If your email system is Lotus Notes or Eudora, you might not be able to
save the SAS Installation Data (SID) attachment that is emailed from SAS
to your SAS Installation Representative. The attachment is necessary for
a successful installation or license renewal of your SAS System 9
software.
If you are unable to save this attachment and you are installing on an
OpenVMS system, a UNIX system without Internet access, a Windows system
without Internet access, or locally on a Windows system, please contact
SAS Technical Support to have that email re-sent to you in an accessible
format.
If you are unable to save this attachment and you are installing on a
UNIX system with Internet access, download the SID via the
Internet while running sassetup. In the step called "Obtain SAS
Installation Data," choose the option "Obtain the SAS Installation Data
from the Internet." Next, enter your SAS installation key and order
number to complete the transaction. These can be found in the
transmittal letter in your installation kit or in your software order
email.
When you enter the correct information, sassetup establishes a secure
Internet connection to a SAS server and retrieves your SAS Installation
Data. If you use a proxy server to access the Internet, refer to the
Proxy Information section in the UNIX installation instructions for
information on how you can access the Internet properly.
If you are unable to save this attachment and you are installing on a
Windows system with Internet access, retrieve the SAS Installation Data
via the Internet using the SAS Administrator Wizard (SAW).
The SAW can be run from the following locations:
* !sasroot\Disk1\saw\setup.exe for Admin\Personal installs
* !sasroot\saw\setup.exe for Admin\Client installs
* On the SAS Setup CD, go to saw\setup.exe.
When running the SAW, click on the option "Update SAS Install Data on
the Server" and "Internet" in the Retrieve SAS Installation Data window.
Next, enter your SAS installation key and order number to complete the
transaction. Finally, and most importantly, check the "Exit after
saving" box. The SAS installation key and order number can be found in
the transmittal letter in your installation kit or the software
order email.
When the correct information is entered, the SAW establishes a secure
Internet connection to a SAS server and retrieves the SAS Installation
Data.
