Usage Note 70969: The new PREFER_BULK_PACKS global setting is available
A new global setting, PREFER_BULK_PACKS, is available in SAS® Pack Optimization.
The new global setting specifies whether SAS Pack Optimization should favor bulk packs to avoid over-allocation of store needs. The default value is set to 0.
For example, if a pre-pack of 8 units and bulk packs are available, and a store needs 6 units, the result varies based on the PREFER_BULK_PACKS setting:
- When PREFER_BULK_PACKS is set to 0, the store receives the pre-pack of 8 units.
- When PREFER_BULK_PACKS is set to 1, the store receives 6 bulk packs.
This setting helps prevent overstock stores by forcing larger packs than their demand.
