Problem Note 70857: The DBCS characters in the .csv file that is exported by SAS® Enterprise Guide® are displayed as a “?” (question mark)
An issue occurs where all DBCS characters in the .csv file are displayed as a “?” (question mark) when you complete steps similar to the following:
- Open a SAS data set that contains DBCS characters in SAS® Enterprise Guide® 8.4 or earlier.
- Click the Share button.
- Select Export as a step in project to bring up the Export wizard. Then, select .csv as the export file type. (Note: All other options use the default value.)
- Click Next to finish the Export wizard.
- Open the exported .csv file with Windows Notepad or other text editor. All DBCS characters in the .csv file are displayed as a “?” (question mark).

fixed.
If you export a data set containing DBCS characters to a .csv file from SAS Enterprise Guide, all DBCS characters in the txt file will be displayed as a "?" (question mark).
