Problem Note 70396: Using the DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES option with SAS/ACCESS® Interface to PostgreSQL can result in an overflow error
When you use the DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES=1 option in a SAS® 9.4 Microsoft Windows environment using UTF-8 encoding, an overflow error can occur when using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to PostgreSQL.
This behavior might occur when you select multiple columns and some of the data is not presented correctly. For example, you encounter this issue if you have data similar to the following:
Column1 Column
C1 |
C2 |
C3 |
C4 |
01JAN1960:00:00:00.000000 |
01JAN1960:00:00:00.000000 |
房子 |
29FEB2012:09:00:00.000000 |
When you select this table with the DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES=1 option, the result is similar to the following:
01JAN1960:00:00:00.000000 01JAN1960:00:00:00.000000 房子 E69CACE6899520202020202020202
The third date column is not correct. The result is a buffer overflow versus truncation of the C3 data.
Applying this hot fix prevents the buffer overflow from corrupting the next column.
