Problem Note 69863: Logon to the SAS® Studio Basic 3.82 web application fails with "The launch of the server process failed with an unknown status code"

When you attempt to log on to the SAS Studio Basic 3.82 web application on UNIX systems, the following error might occur:

    The launch of the server process failed with an unknown status code

This error occurs due to permissions on several files in the SAS Studio Basic 3.82 workspace server configuration directory, <studioconfig>/workspaceserver.

The manual workaround is to update file permissions by issuing the following commands as the user ID that owns the SAS Studio Basic 3.82 configuration:

     chmod 744 /<studioconfig>/workspaceserver/*.cfg
     chmod 744 /<studioconfig>/workspaceserver/*.sas
     chmod 744 /<studioconfig>/workspaceserver/*.xml

It is not necessary to restart the SAS Studio Basic processes after you perform the file permissions update.
