Problem Note 69810: User-defined formats might be lost when you join data sources in SAS® Visual Analytics

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you create a data source join in SAS Visual Analytics and the data sources contain user-defined formats, then the data join table might not retain formats.

For example, you encounter this issue if you perform steps similar to the following:

  1. Create a new report and add two data sources, CARSFMT and CARS_NOFMT. CARSFMT contains user-defined formats on the Make and Origin columns and CARS_NOFMT does not contain any user-defined formats
  2. Add a list table or another report object in the canvas and drag the Make and Origin columns into it.

Note that the Make and Origin data items (from the CARSFMT data source) should contain user-defined formats, but they do not, as shown below:

make and origin data items do not contain user-defined formats

As a workaround, use SAS® Studio to create a joined data source, and then use it in SAS Visual Analytics reports.
