Problem Note 69670: A SAS® Studio 5.2 (Enterprise) session might lose access to the compute server

Access to the compute server might be lost from SAS Studio 5.2 (Enterprise) with the February 2022 build date.

Problem

Here are some possible symptoms of the compute server loss:

  • The following pop-up error might occur when you attempt to open a table in the Work library:

Unable to open table "Work.<dataset name>', The table could not be opened or may have been deleted

  • Macro variables that you previously assigned might generate the following warning:

WARNING: Apparent symbolic reference macrovariable not resolved.

  • Any unsaved changes to programs that are open in the Code Editor window might be lost. These changes might be recoverable in the Document Recovery window.

Workaround

The underlying problem is that an access token is expired. A workaround is to set the following SAS Logon Manager configuration properties (policy.accessTokenValiditySeconds and policy.global.accessTokenValiditySeconds) to be greater than or equal to the following SAS Logon Manager and SAS Studio configuration properties: session.timeout and servlet.session.timeout

Determine the Build Date

To determine the build date for your version of SAS Studio, issue the following command from a system prompt: 

   rpm -q sas-studiov

The February build date is displayed as follows:
    sas-studiov-5.2.271-20220209
