Problem Note 69519: The SAS® Viya® scheduling "Run As" functionality is available only to SAS administrators
At some client sites, SAS administrators are not solely responsible for scheduling jobs. As this is the case, and in the interest of improved security, the functionality of the Run As capability has been enhanced. Now, end users are able to schedule jobs and job flows to run as a group-managed service account. This allows non-administrators associated with that service account through a domain to manage those scheduled jobs. See Schedule a Job in the SAS® Viya® 3.5 Administration documentation for information about how to use this new capability.
Before this hot fix, on the Jobs and Flows section of SAS® Environment Manager, SAS administrators were able to schedule jobs and flows as another user via the Run As feature. This is accessed by right-clicking a job or flow on the Scheduling tab. After this hot fix, installations that do not have group-managed service accounts configured see the error message, "No service account available."
For guidance about configuring service accounts, see Allow a Group-Managed Service Account to Manage the Credentials for a Token Domain in the SAS® Viya® 3.5 Administration documentation.
From the sas-admin command-line interface, you can also schedule jobs and job flows to execute as a service account by using the --domain-id option to specify another user account. For guidance on using the command-line interface, see Jobs and Flows: Command-Line Interface Reference in the SAS® Viya® 3.5 Administration documentation.
To minimize disruption to end users, SAS recommends that sites using Run As functionality configure group-managed service accounts before installing this hot fix.
