Problem Note 68651: The GENMOD or GEE procedures generate incorrect results or abnormally terminate with full-rank parameterization and TYPE3 tests

PROC GENMOD or PROC GEE might either terminate abnormally or present incorrect TYPE3 test results when all of the following conditions are met:
- A full-rank parameterization is requested in the CLASS statement.
- The TYPE3 option is specified in the MODEL statement.
- There are levels of a classification variable in the input data that do not appear in the data that is used to fit the model.
Full-rank parameterization is used if the PARAM= option in the CLASS statement is specified with any value other than GLM. A level of a classification variable can be unused in the model if all observations with that level are omitted due to missing or invalid values in any of the variables that are specified in the procedure.
To work around this problem, do one or more of the following:
- Remove any observations that have missing values for any of the variables that are specified in the procedure.
- Remove the TYPE3 option in the MODEL statement.
- Add the WALD option in the MODEL statement.
- Specify the PARAM=GLM option in the CLASS statement.
