Problem Note 68413: Toggling between the Code and Preview tabs in SAS® Studio might execute a new instance of a job definition

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

After installing the hot fix from SAS Note 67752, "Job code is submitted when you toggle between the Code and Preview tabs in SAS® Studio 5.2 (Enterprise Edition)," you might encounter the following related issue. When you create a job definition that contains a Task prompt in SAS Studio 5.2 and you switch between the Code and the Preview tab, a new instance of the same job is rerun automatically.

For example, you might encounter this issue when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. In SAS Studio 5.2, create and save a new job definition similar to the following:

job definition

  1. Click the Run Icon and then the Submit icon on the Preview tab. When you click Submit, the job is executed, and you can see it in the SAS Job Execution application:

  1. When you go back to SAS Studio, you can see the output from PROC PRINT on the Preview tab:

preview tab of job definition

  1. However, if you click the Code tab and then click the Preview tab, then the job is automatically rerun and a new instance of the same job appears in the SAS Job Execution application.
