Problem Note 68337: The SAS® log states "The file 'file-name.ZIP' exists and is not a zip file. The output file must be a zip file," but that message is incorrect

SAS does not support any zipped file in MVS because the file size is not provided, making it not a native MVS data set. Currently, the following message is written to the SAS log when you attempt to use an MVS ZIP file of this type:
ERROR: The file "file-name.ZIP" exists and is not a zip file. The output file must be a zip file.
However, this message is incorrect, because it does not indicate that the problem is not caused by the MVS format. It seems to indicate that the ZIP format itself is invalid. Also, the wording is misleading, because it states that the file is not a ZIP file but it actually is a ZIP file.
Instead, the message should state that the data set is not a native MVS data set and that it is not supported for a ZIP format because the file size is not available.
A fix for this issue is planned for a future software release.
