Problem Note 68047: The custom sort might not be honored when you print SAS® Visual Analytics cross tables that are based on a hierarchy to PDF

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When you print a cross table in SAS Visual Analytics to PDF, values might be sorted in a different way in the PDF file compared to in the application.

For example, you encounter this issue when you complete steps similar to the following:

  1. Create a new report in SAS Visual Analytics.
  2. Create a new hierarchy that includes three data items: Drive Train, Origin, and Make.
  3. Create a custom sort based on Make.

Note: All values from the Make data item are listed in descending order (Volvo, Volkswagen, Toyota, and so on).

edit custom sort

  1. Add a cross table, choose the hierarchy on Rows, and leave the Frequency on Measures.
  2. Expand All ► Asia to enable the cross table to appear in SAS® Visual Analytics Designer.

Note: All data items are sorted in ascending order. However, the Make data item is sorted in descending order due to the custom sort.

Make data item is sorted descending

SAS® Report Viewer displays the same order.

  1. Select the Print option in SAS Visual Analytics Designer. This is how the cross table is displayed in the PDF file.

Note: Values for Make are not sorted in ascending order, which means that the custom sort is not honored when printing to a PDF file.

Make values are not ascending

This issue occurs only when you use both the hierarchy and the custom sort in a cross table.
