The SAS^® Life Science Analytics Framework software application supports the WebDAV protocol as an option for you to interact with the application for tasks involving document creation and modification, as well as document movement (into and/or out of the application). 

SAS has previously distributed a WebDAV client commonly referred to as the SAS^® Drug Development Desktop Connection (SDDDC) client. The SDDDC client is an optional WebDAV enabled component that had been available upon request from SAS Technical Support. The SDDDC client is unique because it represents a SAS branded version of a third-party client provided by another vendor.

Due to the SDDDC client’s unique nature, the packaged software and installer are not fully supported by SAS.

SAS support consists of basic setup and configuration assistance along with basic usage and assistance with known and previously reported issues for which there are available workarounds and/or SAS usage notes.

Because SAS does not have access to or ownership of the client source code, or the installer executable, SAS is unable to provide software fixes for reported defects or issues with the installer setup.exe  file.

The SDDDC client had been provided for use in an ‘as is’ state for users to leverage the functionality that it provides.

Availability of the SDDDC Client

SAS has become aware of two issues involving the SDDDC client software package:

• The SDDDC client might be vulnerable to the documented security vulnerabilities impacting Apache Log4j 1 .
• Users who have recently installed the SDDDC client have encountered errors when trying to execute the software. The errors appear to be related to a Windows OS update.

Due to the issues described above, SAS is no longer distributing the SDDDC client package.

At this time, SAS does not have an alternative WebDAV client to recommend. There are free and commercially available WebDAV drive mapping tools that you can investigate if you wish to continue using a WebDAV mapped drive.
