Problem Note 68649: After you apply SAS Security Update 2021-09, SAS® Remote Services does not start as a Microsoft Windows service and returns "Error 1067"

After you apply the SAS Security Update 2021-09 for SAS® 9.4M7 (TS1M7), attempting to start SAS Remote Services as a Windows service fails. The failure occurs because the Groovy version referred to in the SAS Remote Services picklist is the previous one (2.4.15.0_SAS_20180627155458).
Symptoms
When attempting to start the SAS Remote Services service from the Windows Services desktop application, you encounter this error:
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly
If you specify wrapper.logfile.loglevel=INFO in the SAS-configuration-directory\Lev1\Web\Applications\RemoteServices\wrapper.conf file, the RemoteServices_wrapper.log contains the following messages:

Workaround
To work around this issue, complete the following steps:
- Delete or rename the SAS-configuration-directory\Levn\Web\Applications\RemoteServices\picklist file.
- Run the SAS-configuration-directory\Levn\Web\Applications\RemoteServices.bat file with no command-line options to regenerate the SAS-configuration-directory\Levn\Web\Applications\RemoteServices\picklist file with the updated picklists from SASHome.
Additional Note
SAS Remote Services is not used by the SAS web applications in SAS® 9.4 and is not started by default. For more information, see Deprecated Functionality in SAS 9.4.
