Large files download more slowly in SAS Studio 5.2 (Basic) than they do in the SAS Studio 5.2 (Enterprise) middle-tier application. The default Integrated Object Model (IOM) chunk size for the Basic edition is 8,192.

An upcoming hot fix creates a new configuration property, readChunkSize. Increasing the value for this property might improve download speeds in SAS Studio 5.2 (Basic) for files that exceed 200 MB.

Here are details about this new configuration property, which is available after you apply the hot fix:

• readChunkSize: The size (in bytes) of the blocks of data that are used when copying a file for output (such as opening a file in the program editor or downloading a file from the Explorer pane). Increasing this value from the default value might speed up the loading of large files. The default value is 8,192, and the maximum value is 1,048,576.
