Problem Note 67858: Report objects might appear blank and the error "data contains no rows and cannot be displayed" might occur when you apply multiple filter actions
When there are multiple report objects with filter actions in SAS® Visual Analytics, you might encounter an issue in which a graph is blank and the following error or warning occurs:
The data contains no rows and cannot be displayed. Change the filters to increase the number of rows.
This issue occurs because, in some cases, the filters are not cleared properly. The image below shows three bar charts. Bar Chart 1 filters Bar Chart 2, which filters Bar Chart 3. This means that Bar Chart 3 also has an inherited filter from Bar Chart 1.
When you select a variable in Bar Chart 1, it filters both Bar Chart 2 and Bar Chart 3. Then, if you select a variable in Bar Chart 2, it filters Bar Chart 3 as well. At this point, Bar Chart 3 is filtered by two variables. If you then choose a different variable in Bar Chart 1, you might find that Bar Chart 3 appears blank and a warning occurs, as shown in the following display. In this case, the filter applied from Bar Chart 2 was not cleared properly when you made a new selection in Bar Chart 1, so the conflicting filters caused an empty result set.
As a workaround, be sure to clear all filters from charts before making any new selections. You can select the Restore default report state menu option to clear the selections.
