Problem Note 67711: Parameters are not passed correctly to report objects in SAS® Visual Analytics 8.5.1
Parameters are not passed correctly to report objects in SAS Visual Analytics 8.5.1.
For example, you encounter this issue if you complete steps similar to the following:
- Create a report that contains two pages. The first page contains a control (button bar in our example) that is based on a category data item and on a parameter (P_Country).
Page2 contains some report objects that have direct filters based on the parameter (P_Country) set in the control in Page1.
- Open the report and display Page1. The control has selected the Canada value, which means that report objects on Page2 that are filtered by this parameter should be filtered by Canada.
- However, if you stay in Page1 for more than 30 seconds before switching to Page2, then report objects on Page2 will not be filtered by Canada. The following image illustrates the problem on Page2. The Pie Chart should show $40,000 (because it contains the filter Country=P_Country), but it shows $938,000:
This issue occurs due to a timing issue. Indeed, if you open the report, display Page1, and switch to Page2 without waiting for more than 30 seconds, then the issue does not occur.
The following image shows Page2 when the problem does not occur. The pie chart is correctly filtered by Canada:
This issue occurs only when you have the Background Queries property set to a value higher than zero.
To work around this problem, set this property to zero in SASEnvironmentManager ► Configurations ► All Services ► SAS Visual Analytics ►sas.visualanalytics Configuration ► Background Queries.
