Problem Note 67665: Editing a data item in the SASĀ® Visual Investigator investigation UI fails with the error "The user does not have a lock on the object with ID..."
An issue can occur if you are editing a data item, and you close your browser without either saving your changes or logging out of the UI. When you then open your browser to start a new session and want to edit the data item again, you might encounter a server error dialog box with the following message:
The user does not have a lock on the object with ID object-lock-ID.
Locking, in part, is managed by a specific record entry in a lock table. When you close a browser session without saving your editing changes, the record entry in the lock table might not be updated. Eventually, the original session ID that is listed in the table expires, and when you open the browser again, an updated session ID is created. However, that new session ID does not match the session ID that is associated with the lock in the table. When this situation happens, you can see the error. Your only option is to close your browser session and start a new one so that you can re-edit the item and then save it.
This issue does not occur when you log out of your session first before you close the browser.
