Problem Note 67409: SAS® Enterprise Guide® 8 and later might consume more CPU resources than previous releases

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS Enterprise Guide 8 and later might consume more CPU resources than previous releases. This behavior is caused by a progress animation bar related to the new windowing/docking interface in SAS Enterprise Guide 8.

Beginning with SAS Enterprise Guide 8.3 Update 2, a configuration option, DisableProgressDotsAnimation, is available to disable the animation of the progress bar.

To use the DisableProgressDotsAnimation option, complete these steps:

  1. Edit the SEGuide.exe.config file using a plain text editor. This file is located in the SAS Enterprise Guide installation directory.
  2. Add the DisableProgressDotsAnimation key, making sure to match the casing exactly.
  3. For the value attribute, enter true.

Here is an example:

<configuration>
  <appSettings>
    <add key="DisableProgressDotsAnimation" value="true"/>
  </appSettings>
</configuration>
