You can view the SAS log for a completed SAS Viya 3.4 job that was created using the SAS Job Execution Web Application 2.1 by using any of the three following approaches:

1. View the SAS log below the job output. This approach works even if the job does not display output to the client.
   
   Add a job parameter, _debug=log, in the job properties:

After the job completes, the log can be viewed in the SAS Job Execution Web Application by selecting the Jobs icon. Then right-click the job and select Retrieve job output. You then see the log displayed. You can also use SAS^® Environment Manager to view the log from the Jobs ► Monitoring ► Download link. However, by default, the log is displayed in JSON file format.  See approach 2 below to change that behavior.

You can also select Retrieve latest job output. Either right-click the job or click the Content icon at the top (circled in the screenshot below):
 

2. View the job log by using the Jobs ► Monitoring ► Download link in SAS Environment Manager.  
   
   By default, the job log is stored in JSON format. To specify that a text log is returned instead, set the _omittextlog=false and _omitjsonlog=true parameters in the job properties:
   
   
   
   
   
   
   Then, after the job completes, you can view the text log in SAS Environment Manager from the Jobs ► Monitoring ► Download link.
   
   
    
3. View the SAS Compute Server log file that is associated with the job run.  
   
   The file contains all information about the job execution, including the SAS log. The Compute Server logs are found here:  /opt/sas/viya/config/var/log/compsrv/default. The owner of the file is the user who submitted the job, and the timestamp will match the time that the job completed.
