Problem Note 67698: The ODS Excel destination might truncate a long text string when it is preceded by an equal sign

In the SAS^® 9.4M7 (TS1M7) maintenance release, the ODS Excel destination truncates a long text string when it is preceded by an equal sign.

There are no errors or warnings. However, the result is that the output can truncate the long text string.

The workaround is to use the FORMULAS="off" option so that the ODS Excel destination does not attempt to treat the string as a formula if that is not what is intended.

The following syntax provides an example:

data test;

   B="AA =ABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ";

   C="AA =ABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ";

   D="AA =ABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ";

   E="AA=ifn(ABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHILMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ)";
