When you create an advanced filter on a category data item that contains several distinct values, only the 1,000 most frequent values are listed. So, those are the only values that can be chosen in the filter window.

For example, you encounter this issue when you complete steps similar to the following:

1. Create a new report and use a data source that contains a category data item with more than 1,000 values.
2. Add a list table and drag the category data item in it.
3. Select the list table, click the Filters tab on the right menu, and then select Advanced Filter.
4. Choose an operator such as IN or NOT IN and add the category data item:

5. Click the (none selected) button to choose your values. The following message is displayed: “Only the 1,000 most frequent values are listed.”

In this scenario, you cannot add unlisted values by using the Filter field.
