Using SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL to read from Microsoft SQL Server or SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC to read data from any database might result in an error similar to the following:

This issue can result if the table that you are reading from is a wide table (containing many columns), and you have set the SAS LIBNAME option READBUFF= to a large number. For example, you encounter this issue if you set READBUFF= to the maximum value of 32,767.

A possible workaround for this issue is to significantly reduce the READBUFF= value size. However, if you reduce the READBUFF value by too much, it might cause performance issues.

After you install the hot fix, you can keep the READBUFF value high and continue to read data without the memory error as long as you have given SAS sufficient memory.
