Problem Note 66656: Attempting to update retired products such as SAS® Customer Link Analytics Data Server at SAS® 9.4M7 (TS1M7) results in a Java exception
After upgrading to SAS 9.4M7, you are given the option to upgrade your SAS data servers (PostgreSQL) to the latest version available from SAS. After you install the new binaries and run the upgrade script, an error might be returned for products that are currently considered retired.
For example, the SAS® Customer Link Analytics Data Server might return the following type of error when you attempt to upgrade it:
Workaround
If you encounter this issue, you need to make changes to the SearchForPGInstances.groovy script located here: SASHOME/SASWebInfrastructurePlatformDataServer/9.4/scripts/upgrade/classes/SearchForPGInstances.groovy
Remove the following lines in the SearchForPGInstances.groovy script:
[twelveByte:'DMMONDSVRC', serverName:'Monitor and Dashboard Data Server'],
[twelveByte:'CLADBSVRC', serverName:'Customer Link Analytics Data Server']]
Then, add the following lines in the same location in the script file:
[twelveByte:'DMMONDSVRC', serverName:'Monitor and Dashboard Data Server']]
// [twelveByte:'CLADBSVRC', serverName:'Customer Link Analytics Data Server']]
The new lines do the following:
- Comment out the line that contains CLADBSVRC.
- Change the last two characters on the previous line from a single square bracket followed by a comma to a double square bracket.
These new lines skip the processing of the SAS Customer Link Analytics Data Server database and prevent the error from occurring.
Note: The analysis part of the upgrade script works whether you make the change or not. It is only the actual upgrade that returns the error.
You can make the changes before running the upgrade script or after the error occurs, in which case you need to re-run the script after the changes are made.
