Problem Note 66560: SAS® Life Science Analytics Framework 5.1.x - SAS® files with invalid names no longer open in the repository; behavior now matches result in workspace
Beginning with the SAS® Life Science Analytics Framework 5.2.2 release, you experience consistent behavior with respect to how SAS files with invalid names (in UNIX or Linux) are treated, regardless of whether you are in the repository or the workspace.
SAS Note 15989 documents that, in UNIX environments, the names of SAS data sets and external files must contain only lowercase characters. SAS data set names that contain any uppercase characters are considered invalid.
In addition, SAS file names (not including any extensions) that exceed 32 characters in length are considered invalid.
Currently, the experience that is associated with actions taken in the UI to open a SAS file with an invalid name varies, depending on whether you are in the workspace or the repository. If you are in the workspace the open action fails; the open is successful if you are in the repository.
In SAS Life Science Analytics Framework 5.2.2, the experience is now consistent in that the attempt to open the file with an invalid name fails in both locations.
Aligning with this new behavior for invalidly named SAS files, there are the following updates:
- Clinical imports of SAS data sets with invalid names fail for both the workspace and the repository.
- SAS catalogs behave in the same way as data sets, with respect to failing to open when names are considered invalid.
