Problem Note 66538: The type for a new calculated variable type defaults to numeric in SAS® Customer Intelligence Studio

In SAS Customer Intelligence Studio, the type for a calculated variable always defaults to a value of numeric when you populate a treatment custom detail with a new calculated variable. The default variable type should match the type for the custom detail variable. 

To work around this issue, select the correct variable type from the variable-type selection list.
