Problem Note 66664: SAS® Deployment Manager does not list all retired products to uninstall after upgrading to SAS® 9.4 M7 (TS1M7)
In SAS 9.4M7, certain SAS products that contained Adobe Flash dependencies have been retired. Retired products must be removed from the SASHOME directory by using SAS Deployment Manager.
During the end of the upgrade process to SAS 9.4M7, the SAS Deployment Manager screen might incorrectly display an incomplete list of retired SAS products OR it might display that there are no products available to uninstall and that the deployment process cannot continue, as shown below:
NOTE: This issue affects only SAS 9.4M7 orders at revision 20w34. The issue is fixed in orders at revision 20w39.
IMPORTANT: It is critical that the configuration for retired products be removed from your existing SAS deployment first before uninstalling any retired products. If retired SAS products are uninstalled first, then it is no longer possible to remove their configuration.
Ensure that you take these steps before starting the upgrade process in SAS Deployment Manager:
- Remove any configuration for retired SAS products prior to upgrading to SAS 9.4M7 (revision 20w34 in August 2020). See Removing a SAS Configuration for more details.
- After retired products are unconfigured, upgrade to the SAS 9.4M7 release. After the upgrade, any retired products can be uninstalled by following the steps below.
IMPORTANT: If the configuration for retired products is not removed before upgrading, then stop and do not follow the steps below.
To enable SAS Deployment Manager to uninstall retired products, follow these steps.
- Under the SASHOME directory, locate the directory SASDeploymentManager/9.4/product_data/deploywiz__94554__prt__xx__spo__1/uninstall.
- In the uninstall directory, find the file that is named include.txt. This file lists installable products that are retired and can be uninstalled.
- Make a backup of the include.txt file.
- Replace the include.txt file that is already on your system with the include.txt file that is available on the Downloads tab of this SAS Note.
- Run SAS Deployment Manager.
- Select the Uninstall SAS Software administrator task.
- In the Select SAS Products to Uninstall dialog box, select Earlier SAS software versions in the pull-down list for the products to uninstall. Then, proceed to uninstall the retired products.
Note: Follow these steps in the uninstall directory for each tier of the existing SAS deployment. Every instance of the older include.txt file must be replaced by the new include.txt file that is on the Downloads tab.
