Problem Note 65317: Upgrading to SAS® Enterprise Guide® 8.2 removes the Local server from the Servers list

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

After upgrading from SAS Enterprise Guide 8.1 to 8.2, users who use only a local SAS® server might notice that the Local server is missing from the Servers list. (When a local server is used, the Connection profile is set to No profile selected.)

When this problem occurs, users cannot run programs and the Run button is unavailable to select. Users also cannot import files or perform other tasks that require the local server.

In the Connection Profile dialog box, which can be accessed from Tools ► Connections  ► Servers, the Automatically add local SAS server (if installed) to server list option is deselected by default. In SAS Enterprise Guide 8.1 and earlier, the Local server appears in the Servers list when the user is not using a profile, regardless of whether that option is selected. In SAS Enterprise Guide 8.2, the Local server appears only when that option is selected. This is by design. Once users select the Automatically add local SAS server (if installed) to server list option, the Local server reappears in the Servers list.
