Problem Note 65167: "ERROR: Value for option DBMAX_TEXT is out of range..." occurs when you use SAS/ACCESS® Interface to the PI System

If you specify the DBMAX_TEXT= option with a value higher than 976 in a LIBNAME statement, you receive the following:
ERROR: Value for option DBMAX_TEXT is out of range (value must be between 1 and 976)
The limit of 976 characters for PI System should apply to the tag value only. The limit should not apply to PIPOINT table columns, such as the description.

After you install the hot fix, PI point attributes of up to 32,767 characters (each) can be read into SAS. The DBMAX_TEXT= option is no longer required and has no effect. SAS column sizes are adjusted automatically to allow enough space for the longest string in each column for the PI points requested.
