Problem Note 65099: A failure occurs when you optimize a scenario in SAS® Marketing Optimization and you have a large number of control groups

When you optimize a scenario in SAS Marketing Optimization, you might encounter the following error in the MarketingOptimization_dd_mmm_yy.log file, which is located in the SAS-configuration-directory\Lev1\Applications\SASCustomerIntelligence\MarketingOptimization\Logs directory:
Extract Control Groups ................... Start Time 19:06:02
ERROR: Symbolic variable name _CG_NUM_OFFERS_CONTROL_GROUP_1000 must be 32 or fewer characters long.
The error happens when you have more than 999 communications that are specified as control groups in your scenario (that is, where the value for OFFER_ID is greater than or equal to 1000).
As a temporary workaround, do not specify control groups in SAS Marketing Optimization. Instead, create the control group for the communications in a post-processing step after the optimization.
