Usage Note 65957: SAS® Report Viewer might display the error "An unexpected service error was encountered..." when you access a report after configuring a reverse proxy
The first time that you access a report after configuring a reverse proxy in SAS® Visual Analytics 8.3, the SAS Report Viewer might return an error similar to the following:
An unexpected service error was encountered trying to satisfy the request
The same report might work correctly the second time that you access it.
You can encounter this issue if you are using Apache 2.2.8, due to the bug described in ASF Bugzilla – Bug 44995.
The first time a report is accessed, the reportPackages service redirects to the authorization service to determine which permissions the user has. The authorization service redirects to reportPackages, which normally returns HTTP 449. However, the bug in Apache 2.2.8 treats this an HTTP 500, which triggers the exception to appear in SAS Report Viewer.
The second time that you access a report, there is no authorization check. So, this scenario does not occur, and the report should work correctly.
To circumvent the issue, upgrade your Apache server to version 2.3 or higher. Consult the appropriate Apache documentation for additional information.
