Problem Note 65381: SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office 8.x cannot open SAS® Visual Analytics reports through a metadata connection when IWA is enabled
In SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office 7, the connection to a SAS Visual Analytics server was made by going through the SAS Visual Analytics version defined in the metadata.
In SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office 8, the technology used to connect to a SAS Visual Analytics server changed to align with the technology used by the SAS Visual Analytics App, formerly known as SAS Mobile BI. This change allows SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office to connect to both SAS Visual Analytics 7 and SAS Visual Analytics 8. The new technology does not support Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA). Therefore, in SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office 8.0 through 8.2 Update 4, you cannot open SAS Visual Analytics reports using a SAS® Metadata connection profile when IWA is enabled in the metadata connection profile.
This issue is fixed in SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office 8.2 Update 5, thus allowing metadata access to SAS Visual Analytics 7.5 and earlier reports. SAS Visual Analytics on SAS® Viya® reports must use "Additional Visual Analytics Profiles" to access reports as metadata is not present in SAS Viya.
