Problem Note 64342: Performance degradation might occur when you use a PROC SQL query to access SAS® Scalable Performance Data Server 5.4
In Base SAS® software, performance degradation occurs when the following is true for the SQL procedure query:
- A SAS Scalable Performance Data Server (SPD Server) 5.4 table is referenced.
- You use the CALCULATED keyword multiple times to reference previously created variables.
- IP=YES is set on the SASSPDS LIBNAME statement.
This issue occurs because SPD Server 5.4 queries that contain functions are now passed to the SPD Server. Also, a much longer, inefficient query is used because the CALCULATED variable references are replaced with the original code that was used to create that new variable.
A workaround is to not use IP=YES in the LIBNAME statement.
