Problem Note 64091: The SAS® Event Stream Processing Server (executable program name dfesp_xml_server) exhibits memory growth and eventually crashes

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

The SAS Event Stream Processing Server (dfesp_xml_server) shows memory growth each time an event block is processed by the connector. Eventually, dfesp_xml_server can consume all the memory on the system, which causes the server to crash.

This issue occurs because a SAS Event Stream Processing model uses a DB subscriber connector with an ODBC driver. The connector uses DRIVER=ODBC in the connectstring connector property. For example, the connector's connectstring connector property might be set as follows:

<property name="connectstring"><![CDATA[DRIVER=ODBC;CATALOG=catalog;ODBC_DSN='dsn';]]></property>

To work around this issue, recycle the ESP XML Server periodically to release the storage. This action stops all running models.
