Geo maps based on custom polygon providers do not render in SAS Visual Analytics when geography names include special characters such as single quotation marks. For example, SAS Visual Analytics cannot correctly process a custom region named L'AQUILA. You see an error that is similar to this display:

When this problem occurs, the sas-maps and sas-report-data logs contain parsing errors that are similar to this example from the sas-maps log:

As a workaround, create the geographic data item based on the data item name but associate the geographic data item with the Region ID in the custom polygon provider.
