Problem Note 64699: SAS® Enterprise Guide® stops responding and generates an error regarding an XML exception

When you open SAS Enterprise Guide, the application can stop responding and generate an error message similar to the following:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.Xml.XmlException' occurred in SAS.EG.Application.dll
Additional information: Unexpected end of file has occurred. The following elements are not closed: olapFrameProperties, Options. Line 141, position 1638.

These error messages appear because the application is experiencing an issue while reading the EGOptions.xml file in the following location: C:\Users\user-ID\AppData\Roaming\SAS\EnterpriseGuide\7.1\.
Workaround
- Close all instances of SAS® and SAS Enterprise Guide.
- Navigate to the following directory: C:\Users\user-ID\AppData\Roaming\SAS.
Note: You might need to show hidden files in order to see the AppData directory.
- Rename the EnterpriseGuide directory to old_EnterpriseGuide.
Note: The EnterpriseGuide\7.1 directory above is automatically re-generated if it is deleted and SAS Enterprise Guide is started.
- Restart SAS Enterprise Guide.
