Output variables that are created in rules in SAS Decision Manager should inherit length information from input variables. However, the created output variables use a default length that is configurable, but cannot be changed.

After you apply the hot fix, the created output variable uses the length of the first input variable. The fix applies only for DATA step code, not for DS2 code implementations. To fix DS2 code, in SAS^® Management Console, you need to set the code type property to DS1 for SAS Business Rules Manager. 

To set the code type property, add the following property. The property is on the Advanced tab of the Business Rules Manager Web 3.2 application within the Configuration manager plug-in in SAS Management Console.

• Property name - brm.runtime.codetype
• Property value - DS1

To add this new property, select add when you get to the property page. Or, you can set the property by including the following line at the beginning of your code:
