Problem Note 64148: The "Automatically select groups" option does not work properly in the SAS® Studio Query Utility
When using the SAS Studio Query Utility, the Automatically select groups option on the GROUP tab is selected by default. When this option is selected, the GROUP tab should contain all columns without any summary functions.
However, sometimes, the GROUP tab contains additional columns as well. For example, suppose that your query utility contains the columns Name, Sex, Weight, and Height from SASHELP.CLASS, and that Summary=COUNT has been applied for the columns Weight and Height.
Given that scenario, the GROUP tab should contain only the columns Name and Sex because they do not have any summaries.
However, the GROUP tab might still show the Name, Sex, and Weight columns as well.
This issue affects only the user interface. The SQL procedure that is automatically generated from SAS Studio is not affected by this problem, so the result of the query utility is correct.
/* Query code generated for SAS Studio by Common Query Services */
PROC SQL;
CREATE TABLE WORK.QUERY
AS
SELECT CLASS.Name, CLASS.Sex, COUNT(CLASS.Height)
AS Height, COUNT(CLASS.Weight)
AS Weight
FROM SASHELP.CLASS CLASS
GROUP BY CLASS.Name, CLASS.Sex;
QUIT;
