Problem Note 63940: Subsetting a view in SAS® 9.4M5 (TS1M5) with a comparison operator that contains an equal sign and colon (=:) returns different results than expected

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

The problem that is discussed in this note applies only to views. The behavior of the =: operator remains the same when you are using data sets.

The =: comparison operator in SAS releases earlier than SAS 9.4M5 returned values that began only with the characters listed within quotation marks. For example, the following syntax returned all values of NAME that began with the prefix “abc”.

where name=: 'abc'

Starting with SAS 9.4M5, however, this same syntax returns all values of NAME that begin with “a”, “ab”, and “abc”.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

After you apply the hot fix, a new system option, SQL_PUSHTCINTOVIEW_FROM_OUTSIDE, is available. When the option is set to YES, it enables the =: comparison operator to return the same values that it does when it is used in releases earlier than SAS 9.4M5.
